Celebrating Earth Day 2013 With Zoya Josie, Rocky, & The Earth Day Exchange!

Hello Lacquer Luvers! Today is Earth Day and I'm celebrating with a few of the beauties from the Zoya Stunning Collection that I shared with you yesterday. My manicure today was totally inspired by these colors and the earth itself and I am really happy to share it with you!

I began with a base of Essie Feed Me followed by two coats of Zoya Josie. Josie is described as a grassy green cream which made her quite appropriate for today. I then applied one coat of Jordana Cosmic over Josie. Cosmic's blue, green, and silver glitters are like putting the earth, sky and clouds in a bottle, amazing!

My favorite flower images from BornPrettyStore's M72 plate and Konad Special Stamping Polish in White were stamped on all of my nails. I used Zoya Rocky and BM312 on my accent finger. Konad white and my new W104 plate by Winstonia  were used for the words "Earth Day."

Gotta love the macro shot!

How beautiful is that vibrant hibiscus? It's my absolute favorite flower and looked even more stunning (cheesy pun intended) than my manicure next to it.

Zoya is giving us polishaholics a way to do our part for Earth Day. By joining in the 2013 Earth Day Exchange you get to rid your old toxic nail polish in an earth-friendly way and exchange them for brand new Big5Free Zoya polishes! Please click on the link here for full details and hurry as this offer ends April 26. As always, I hope you all liked this post my dear Lacquer Luvers and I look forward to sharing my next post with you, xo!

Zoya Stunning Collection for Summer 2013 Swatches and Review

Hello Lacquer Luvers! Today's post features what I think is by far the best collection ever put together! Zoya very appropriately named this one Stunning and you can bet that every single shade is just that. Consisting of 6 vibrant shades that are sure to get you in the mood for sunglasses and flip-flops, the Zoya Stunning Collection should be on every girl's fingertips this season!

Darcy: The full-coverage, sunny yellow cream! This lemony shade has the slightest bit of shimmer and is completely opaque in three coats.

Thandie: The citrus-orange cream! Thandie has a little bit of shimmer in her as well. Here she's photo'd completely opaque in 2 easy coats.

Micky: the amazingly gorgeous coral crelly (a cream with the squishiness of a jelly)! This beauty took 4 coats to reach full opacity. She shares that teeny bit of shimmer that makes her, well, stunning!

Yana: the beautiful Geranium pink cream! This dazzling lovely is photo'd here in two coats but if carefully applied she might very well be a one-coater. I'm sure there are others like her, but none in my collection and she seriously made my heart skip a beat, LOVE!

Rocky: the serene blue cream. She reminded me of the clear blue skies before those summer storms. So calm, so pretty. Here she is at 2 coats to reach full opacity.

Josie: the gorgeous grassy green cream. Most of you know my love of greens and while they vary in shade and finish I have nothing quite like Josie! This beauty went on as smooth as butter and reached full opacity in 2 easy coats.

This collection, for me, is in a league of it's own. It's everything I look forward to at summertime. Vibrant & rich colors that catch your eye! The formula of these were Zoya standard, and by that I mean pretty perfect. I will for sure be pulling these out again as they would definitely make great bases for summertime nail art. This collection is available at Zoya.com & retails for $48 for the set or $8 per bottle. Currently Zoya is running their Earth Day Exchange which means you should probably put this collection in your cart right now! As always, I hope you all liked this post my dear Lacquer Luvers and I look forward to sharing my next post with you, xo!

MEDIA RELEASE: Nail It Magazine Features Zoya Nail Polish online

MEDIA RELEASE: Nail It Magazine Features Zoya Nail Polish online

Why They Love Zoya…

“As if the gorgeous shades and lovely shape of the lacquer bottles weren’t enough for us to go gaga over Zoya nail polishes, this nail polish brand was the pioneer of the “3 Free” effort.

Three-free means that three ingredients are absent from the nail polish formula: toluene, formaldehyde and dibutyl phthalate (DBP).

Zoya was free of toluene, formaldehyde and formaldehyde resin since its inception in the 1990's. It then went on to remove DBP from its formulation in 2002. What’s more, in 2007, Zoya became camphor-free as well.

In 2006, after feeling the heat from health groups and shoppers, a handful of brands, including OPI and Essie, removed the “toxic trio” from their formulas, and many companies, such as Butter London and Sally Hansen, followed suit.

But unlike those brands, Zoya embraced the “3 Free” ideology from its inception, a decade before there was a concerted public awareness campaign!”

In fact, Zoya Nail Polish remains committed to providing a healthier choice in beauty with a formula that is also free of formaldehyde resin and camphor, making each and every long-wearing, beautiful shade Big5Free.

Ruby Wing Color Changing Nail Polish Spring & Summer Collections Swatches and Review

Hello Lacquer Luvers! Today I have a swatch and review post that features color changing polishes by Ruby Wing. These polishes intensely alter color after only seconds in direct sunlight or UV rays (black light). Their photochromic color change occurs when the molecules are exposed to ultraviolet wavelengths and are sure to keep you looking at your nails in amazement!

Indoors
Outdoors

Peony: Indoors
Peony: Outdoors
Peony: "This perky shade of peach will brighten your day indoors, but once outside, this perky shade darkens to a crimson shade of red!" Here is 3 coats of Peony, no topcoat. She was a bit of a drag to apply & has some weird "rocks" in the formula. The spring colors are very lightly scented of fresh-cut grass. The indoors peach color is really a beautiful shade. Outside I got her to turn this fabulous melon-like color, love!

Crowd Surf: Indoors
Crowd Surf: Outdoors
Crowd Surf: "For the benefit of nail polish, we don't recommend crowd surfing with this polish across your fingertips, even if the color change gets you that excited." Indoors Crowd Surf is an edgy neon purple. When exposed to the sun she turns a deep burgundy. For this one I used 2 coats & 1 coat of topcoat.

Meadow: Indoors
Meadow: Outdoors
Meadow: "A sheer, silver shade indoors, but a tantalizing bronze shade outdoors!" The foil formula of Meadow applied like butter with just 2 coats to reach full opacity (no topcoat). I loved the way this one looked indoors and out. So so luxe looking!

These polishes are pretty cool! It was a lot of fun to watch them change colors before my eyes. If you don't live here in sunny Florida, no worries! These beauties change outside even on cloudy days since uv rays penetrate through clouds. Ruby Wing polishes can be purchased here and retail for $10. With all of the nail polish trends right now color changing technology really gives us a way to get a good bang for your buck, don't you think? Which of these do you like most?
As always, I hope you all liked this post my dear Lacquer Luvers and I look forward to sharing my next post with you, xo!

Zoya Liberty Lights It Up Blue!

Hello Lacquer Luvers! I hope you all had a nice weekend and are ready for a great week ahead! Today's post features one of thestunning  Zoya Summer Pixie Dust polishes that I showed you guys yesterday (click link to see swatches and macro shots of the collection). LuvMyLacquer is still lighting it up blue for Autism Awareness month and today lady Liberty gets her time to shine!

This mani began with 2 coats of Zoya Liberty. This electric blue matte glitter beauty from the Summer Pixie Dust polishes is gorgeous! She applies very easily and dries quickly, too. I used PUEEN plate 24 with my Konad Special Stamping Polish in white for the stars and tiny rhinestones completed this mani.

I really like the texture of the Zoya Pixies. They're smooth enough to be stamped over despite their sugary finish. The glitter delivers the right amount of sparkle when your nails meet the sun. So very fun for summer and I can't wait to try more looks with these beauties. How are you liking the textured polish trend? Are you looking forward to picking up any of the Pixie Dust polishes? Liberty can be purchased at Zoya.com and retails for $9. As always, I hope you all liked this post my dear Lacquer Luvers and I look forward to sharing my next post with you, xo!

Zoya Summer 2013 Pixie Dust Collection Swatches & Review (picture heavy)

Hello Lacquer Luvers! Today I get to share swatch photos and my review of the highly anticipated Zoya 2013 Summer Pixie Dust Collection! Ever since Zoya announced that there would be summer pixies I have been daydreaming of what the colors would be and Zoya, as usual, did not let me down. These are stunning shades that are absolute perfection for the season! Have a look:

Solange: A golden yellow metal foil that sparkles and shines as the sun hits it. This one is a beauty! The color is more accurate in my macro shot as the sun was washing it a bit out in the other photo. 2 coats, no base/top coat.

Beatrix: The tangerine metal that stole my heart! This gorgeous shade reminded me of my daughter's namesake (Gabrielle) with some sugary texture sprinkled in by the Zoya fairies! It was love at first sight for me and Beatrix. 2 coats, no base/top coat.

Destiny: Coral metal with a sugared sparkle. Coral has been everywhere this Spring and it makes its reappearance in the summer with this pretty little lady. Destiny was so juicy looking, even with it's textured finish! So, so pretty! 2 coats, no base/top coat.

Miranda: Rose colored and sugary textured with a jelly-ish finish, too! Miranda surprised me with her beauty, my photos really do her no justice. 2 coats, no top/base coat.

Stevie: Violet and silver sugary shimmer! Stevie is such a pretty shade of lavender. 2 coats, no base/top coat.

Liberty: Electric blue matte glitter with a textured sparkle! Liberty was like magic, just look at that macro! Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! 2 coats, no base/top coat.

I received this collection for review yesterday and couldn't wait to get up this morning to swatch it for you guys! It is so much prettier in person than I could have ever imagined. The squishiness of Destiny and the luxuriousness of Solange make them the winners for me, although they really were all winners in my book. Liberty, as stunning as she is, did leave some staining however. So if you're a french manicure kind of girl you might want to steer clear from her. Zoya Pixie Dust polishes retail for $9 and can be purchased at Zoya's website. As always, I hope you all liked this post my dear Lacquer Luvers and I look forward to sharing my next post with you, xo!

It's My Birthday!

Hello Lacquer Luvers! For my 29th birthday I have a short and super sweet post to share with you guys. I wanted to try something that I'm sure we've all seen before - the birthday cupcake mani! Here's my twist on these cute festive nails that are so easy and fun to do..

For my mani I used Essie Feed Me as the base coat followed by two coats of Zoya Yummy on my nails and two coats of Zoya Blu on the accent finger. That gorgeous glitter is Shimmer Polish Julia, love! The cupcake was done with Zoya's Yummy & Blu, Bettina Marshmallow, Shimmer Julia & a cute heart shaped rhinestone from born pretty store.

I love the macro shots! They really show how gorgeous Julia is. You can expect to see more Shimmer Polish on my blog in the very near future. I love that these were so easy to do and that I kept them blue for Autism Awareness month! As always, I hope you all liked this post my dear Lacquer Luvers and I look forward to sharing my next post with you, xo!

When Water Mabling Goes Blue for Autism Awareness!

Hello Lacquer Luvers! Before I get into my post I would like to take a second to thank you all and to apologize. I feel so bad that I haven't been posting regularly. There are alot of things and changes going on in my personal life that are taking the majority of time. I'm trying my best to keep up with everything and trying to take it all in stride. I just wanted to thank you guys for sticking around and baring with me. It truly does mean a lot to me. Now, on to the good stuff! =)

I began my mani with a base of Essie Feed Me then proceeded to build my bullseye. Yup, you read that right. I didn't use a base color for these because I was pressed for time. What I love about Bettina polishes is that their buttery smooth formulas are incredibly pigmented! The colors more or less stay true even in the water. Here I used Bettina Elegant Blue, Vintage & Marshmallow and finished it with a coat of HK Girl.

These colors went nicely together, I think. I love how each nail comes out differently but sometimes wish they all came out the same. I like my middle finger best here. Do you water marble? Have you guys been lighting it up blue? If you are on Instagram tag me (@luvmylacquer) so that I can see!

Early intervention is key with this disorder and that's what I want to get out to the world today. My family began to notice that our son wasn't talking at all by the time he was 18 months old. We asked his Dr. about it and were immediately referred to specialists at the University of Miami. Although hearing that something could be wrong with him devastated us, we knew it was important to try and get him help early on. The specialists at UM did a wonderful job of explaining the disorder to us & guiding us on the right path to get him all the therapy available at the time. Not only was this a huge step for us as a family to gather as much information as possible so that we could aid our baby, it has proved to be fundamental to his success! If you suspect a developmental delay in your child I urge you to go and find out as much as you can. It will make it easier on all parties involved and once your child starts to show you how much they're progressing you will automatically feel rewarded for your determination in taking these early steps. As always, I hope you all liked this post my dear Lacquer Luvers and I look forward to sharing my next post with you, xo!

The New Professional Nail Polish Neutral from Zoya!

The New Professional Nail Polish Neutral from Zoya!

“Work Appropriate” nail polish doesn’t have to be boring.

Get to work with the best neutral nail polish: Zoya Godiva
We all know that “work appropriate” fashion and beauty office guidelines vary greatly from company to company depending on the business at hand. And fingernails are often viewed as best covered in clear nail polish, just buffed or a worn in classic French Manicure to error on the side of humdrum and boring but safe in some environments...

Zoya PixieDustTM in Godiva solves this common workplace dilemma with a neutral nail polish color option that is modern, soft and stylish and works as well in the classroom, boardroom and courtroom as it does at a red-carpet movie premieres.

Here’s why... the textured, matte nude nail polish Godiva is beautifully buildable from semi-sheer as a single coat to full-coverage in just two coats, depending on your personal color intensity preference. No matter what, the look is always that of impeccably groomed and modest with just enough sparkle to keep things feminine (and a dare we say a bit sexy too - work it girl!).

The unexpected and huge bonus to Zoya’s PixieDustTM Godiva formulation is that the color dries quickly, requires no base or top coats and is long wearing - which saves precious time for busy professional women (and Mom’s) who always want and need to look their best in a variety of professional situations.

INSIDER PRO MANICURE TIP: If you would like to customize Godiva to perfectly match your skin tone, it’s easy. Simply add a drop or two of another Zoya PixieDustTM color, usually Chyna, as desired to the bottle and blend by gently stirring the two shades together. Wearing the color as a semi-sheer single coat also allows your natural skin tone to show through for subtle “naked nail” look that works beautifully with any light or dark skin pigmentation.

See the “Zoya How to apply Zoya PixieDustTM Video” for more great beauty tips and tricks to use when applying Zoya PixieDustTM.
